The Center of Sustainable Development at Sohag University Organizes its First Training Course for Sustainable Development

The Center of Sustainable Development at Sohag University organized the activities of the first training course for sustainable development, which targeted a number of staff members, including assistant professors, lecturers and their assistants, in the hall of the University’s Electronic and Knowledge Services Center.

Dr. Hassan Al-Numani, President of the University, said that the training program comes within the framework of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, in which sustainable development is one of the three main axes on which the strategy was based, which was launched by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, explaining that the training program aims to Providing participants with knowledge and skills related to the concepts of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the University Council has approved the adoption of the sustainable development course to be among the courses designated for the promotion of the staff members and their assistants, adding that the duration of the course is 10 training hours divided into two days, in which 15 staff members participated, assistant professors, lecturers and assistant lecturers, explaining that it included electronic pre- and post-tests to apply the principles of sustainability in reducing the use of paper.

It also included a number of presentations, brainstorming, discussions, simulations, etc.

Dr. Hamdy Hassanein, Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research and Director of the Center, added that the course topics included introducing Egypt’s Vision 2030, the concepts of sustainable development, its elements and goals, and the obstacles and challenges facing its implementation, in addition to clarifying examples of both environmental sustainability and climate change, and integrating development concepts, sustainable education in the educational process, modern agricultural methods, and green entrepreneurship, in addition to the reality and hopes in the field of sustainable health, the extent of the achievement achieved by the Egyptian state and the university’s contribution to achieving this.
